The ICC Rocketeers travelled to Chelmsford to compete alongside 37 other teams in the Southern heats of UKRoc. Gorgeous weather ensured some high scores throughout the day with sporadic wind gusts challenging many teams.
Each rocket had a two-flight limit, requiring careful mass adjustments and on-the-spot repairs to fins and parachutes to secure a spot on the scoreboard. Strict competition rules led to over 18 teams having disqualified flights, and three teams unable to get off the ground. Despite all of this ‘The Fruit Squad’ successfully launched and had official mission times recorded.
Although nationals are out of reach for us this year, we’re proud to see former rocketeer and student Nehan lead a team from Collyer’s College to a strong finish, keeping their hopes alive for the next round. Best of luck to all involved!
