On Friday 3rd July 2026, 30, Year 8 students spent a day at the University of Chichester. The students were involved in many activities ranging from course selection, skills and qualities required for success at university and entrepreneurship qualities via a ‘dragons’ den’ sales pitch.

For the sales pitch task, students worked together in teams to pitch ideas about online tools that would support study skills such as revision and examination techniques. It was great to have the Marketing Director and members of the Senior Leadership team from the university judging the competition. The winning team designed an app that supported with revision of topics in all subjects and embodied video and podcast technology within the application.

The Year 8 Students continually showed the ICC THRIVE Values through all activities and tasks, and students had a real experience of a higher educational institution.

This is the second group of Year 8 s this academic year to work with The University of Chichester and other initiatives are planned for 2026/2027.

“The students were amazing.  Everyone shone, showing their skills and qualities through the tasks. ICC students should be so proud of what they achieved on the day, and it was a privilege to take this group to the University of Chichester”
