Our History students have just returned from an unforgettable battlefield adventure across France and Belgium — a trip packed with powerful stories, hands‑on exploration and plenty of muddy boots! 🇫🇷🇧🇪

From watching the sunrise over the Channel to standing in the very trenches of Vimy Ridge, students brought their classroom learning to life in the most inspiring way. Highlights included:

🪖 Handling real WWI artefacts (yes… actual trench cameras!)
🌲 Walking the battlefields of Messines & Thiepval
🔦 Exploring the underground tunnels of Arras — in total darkness
⚔️ Bayonet fencing at Hooge Crater
🪦 Reflecting at Tyne Cot & attending the Menin Gate ceremony
🍫 Sampling the finest Belgian chocolate (parents, we hope some survived!)

A special shout‑out to our incredible students for their curiosity, respect and team spirit — even a surprise coach breakdown couldn’t slow them down!

Year 9 student Rika summed it up perfectly:
“The Battlefield Tour helped link schoolwork to real events and deepen our knowledge. Visiting the trenches showed what life was really like on the front lines. It’s a great trip for anyone who loves history!”

💙 A huge thank you to the brilliant History team and our dedicated trip staff who volunteered their free time to make this experience possible. Your passion, energy and commitment brought history to life in unforgettable ways.

Thank you to all parents and carers for your support in making this enriching experience a reality. 🌟
