On Friday 21st March 2025, Scott Sharp and Catherine Langley from WestGate Chambers in Brighton were in school working with Year 12 and 13 BTEC Level 3 Law students.

The students were given legal case studies and scenarios and had to act as Barristers representing a defence team. The students investigated both mitigating and aggravating acts within the scenarios.

Students were also given an insightful into the career of a Barrister and the training and commitment required. Scott and Catherine gave many examples of their work and students found this interesting and inspiring.

Paul Darbyshire- Associate Senior Leader “It was great that Scott and Catherine gave up their time to speak to our students. The law students were extremely interested in how to become a Barrister and saw at first hand the types of legal work that is undertaken and the preparation of cases for hearings in the law courts. The team from Westgate Chambers look forward to working with ICC Law students soon”

Olivia Paterson Year 13 Law student- “it was great to have two Barristers in school. I learnt so much about the training, role and types of cases Barristers take on. I would like to be a Lawyer and hopefully, I can do some work experience with Scott and the Team at WestGate Chambers in Brighton”
