This morning on the 11th November, the staff and students of ICC gathered in the atrium for a service of remembrance.
As we gathered around the central atrium we watched the well perfected ceremonial drill of our students who are members of the Army Cadets, Air Cadets and Police Cadets as they led the service.
The Exhortation was recited by Olivia from our Sixth Form and a wreath laid by Ryan in Y10.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
Students were reminded of the history of Armistice day and asked to think of those who have lost their lives in war, as soldiers and civilians, from the First World War up to more recent conflicts.
Following the Last Post, ICC marked the two minutes silence alongside the nation at 11am, a period of quiet contemplation and reflection for all.
Reveille marked the end of the silence and poppies were released from high above falling gently onto the memorial below.
Lewis completed our service reciting the Kohima Epithet.
When you go home, tell them of us and say,
For your tomorrow, we gave our today.
A moving service for all with many commenting on how fitting a tribute it was to the fallen and those taking part saying how proud they felt to be involved.
Our thanks to the amazing students, and staff at ICC for the parts they played in the day.
Our fundraising for the RBL came to an end with a bake sale of cakes kindly donated by students, staff and parents, we look forward to sharing how much has been raised in due course.
