Grade 4 in GCSE English Language or GCSE English Literature and
Merit in BTEC First award in Music or equivalent qualifications gained through extra-curricular study
Course Overview:
Extended Certificate in Music is aimed at developing as a solo and ensemble musician. The course contains a mix of practical music making, research, session playing and improvisation. Units cover practical music making in ensembles and solo performances where cover songs and original material are developed.
Improvisation is explored and self-expression is encouraged alongside gaining knowledge into the Music Industry where real life case studies are used in the Professional Practice unit.
Students gain insights in to the range of jobs and opportunities which currently exist in the industry.
Units include: Practical Music Theory and Harmony, Professional Practice in the Music Industry, Ensemble Music Performance, Music Performances Sessions Styles.

4 units, of which 3 are mandatory and 2 are external.

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Music Performance.
Career Opportunities:
Qualification provides opportunities to develop as a solo artist, composer, session musician, arranger or other creative production roles. Knowledge is transferable across a range of creative and industry pathways, such as studio and recording roles.
Academic pathways when taken with English, Business studies and Performing Arts include BA (Hons) in Performing Arts, BA (Hons) in Music Industry Management and BA Music performance degrees.
